There were plenty of creative activities to choose from during Art Day. Digital Carousel set up a digital media/animation workshop. Using photography and Photoshop we showed the children how to turn themselves into an avatar. Needless to say there were long queues at these workstations! On the interactive whiteboard we showed the children how to create their own animations in Flash. Using resources from the library and drawing their own graphics the children brought the world of characters Tiny and Owly to life.
Here is an example of what we will teach the children to do!
Busy all weekend cleaning and scanning slides. I have been using a Veho Filmscan 35i slide and negative scanner. The software that comes with it (pictured above) is a bit ropey and is only compatible with Windows. Had a lot of trouble getting it to work on my laptop (Vista, of course!) so I rooted out my old reliable Dell desktop (running XP) and it worked a charm on that.
There’s a good bit of dust on the finished scans despite my best efforts with the air cleaner but nothing that can’t be Photoshopped out.
